The Tecno group was established in 1971 and has since expanded with various entities. In 1993, the group set up its first major corporate entity: Tecno Pack Telecom (Pvt) Ltd, with the purpose of producing automotive seatbelts, car infotainment systems and connected car applications for the top OEM manufacturers in Pakistan. In 2017, the Tecno group made a Joint Venture with Pak Suzuki Motor Company to set up the largest OEM-grade automotive glass manufacturing plant in Pakistan. The group then decided to diversify its portfolio into the electronics industry. We worked tirelessly with the government to develop a Mobile Device Manufacturing Policy that made it feasible to produce mobile phones in Pakistan. In 2019, we set up Transsion Tecno Electronics, a Joint Venture with Transsion Holdings Ltd, a corporate giant listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of over $ 12 billion. Together, we set up the first large sale smartphone manufacturing plant in Pakistan, capturing over 50% market share. The group then set up its independent manufacturing facility where it is producing Nokia smartphones and feature phones in collaboration with HMD Finland. In 2022, the group decided to diversify further into the services sector with establishment of a microfinance solution company in a Joint Venture with Dexintec China.
